As the Energy Partner of Lancashire Business View, Trident were selected to host the latest round table discussion, featuring in the latest issue (119) of the Lancashire Business View magazine.
Recap: Zero Options Ahead
A panel of experts from businesses situated across Lancashire were invited along to the Trident offices, to discuss the energy challenges being faced throughout the county, but more specifically sharing views on the drive to reach net zero emissions. There were four key discussion points, the panel were asked to discuss:
- "Where’s the value for Lancashire businesses to decarbonise and be on a net zero journey?”
- “What are the barriers to starting the decarbonisation journey and what are the solutions?”
- “Many businesses understand the first steps towards decarbonisation. What about the second steps?”
- “What would be your appeal to policy makers or business leaders?”
There was a mixture of responses to the questions above. Michael Dugdale, Managing Director at Trident, was part of the panel, who shared his insights with the panel on the four key discussion points.
We caught up with Michael recently, for his insight on how he felt the Energy Debate went and what’s next for businesses across Lancashire...
“We had a strong panel of industry and academic leaders, from East Lancs Chamber of Commerce CEO Miranda Barker OBE to UCLANs Professor of Resources, Energy and Environment Karl Willaims. The debate shone the torch on net zero and in particular, the opportunities for business to embrace sustainability best practise to differentiate themselves from competitors and to add value to their financial performance. I took the opportunity to raise the exciting opportunity available for people to progress a career in energy and clean technology.
Energy and net zero is one of the most important sectors globally and the speed of change and progression towards a net zero landscape provides significant opportunity for career development and business growth.
I also took the opportunity to reassure the panel and readers that starting a net zero journey doesn't have to be over whelming. You can start with some tangible wins and then progress towards a long term carbon reduction plan, partnering with an expert like Trident to hold your hand throughout the journey.”
