Science-based targets

Widely regarded as the most progressive and credible, these are emissions-reduction goals that align with the latest climate science. Their objective is to restrict global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Establishing a science-based target involves first calculating your current greenhouse gas emissions, then identifying the most cost-effective measures you can take to reduce them and mapping out an emissions-reduction pathway. Once this is agreed, you can set your science-based target.

Carbon offsetting uses the principle of geographical neutrality, by which a given amount of CO₂ emitted in one place can be compensated for by the reduction of an equivalent amount in another.
