Michael Butterworth
Director
With over 40 years’ experience in energy consulting, Michael’s breadth of knowledge spans many sectors. His customer care skills and attention ensure that Trident always delivers exactly what we promise, and we’re proud that our customer retention rates reflect this. When he’s not in the office, Michael will either be sitting by a lake trying to catch a monster fish, or watching (sadly no longer playing!) football.
Darren Robertson
Director
Darren has worked in the energy sector for almost four decades, first trading in oil and distillates before moving into energy and natural gas procurement and trading. He was the driving force behind many of Trident’s flexible ‘risk managed’ procurement services and their supporting software. Out of the office he’s just as busy, cycling, golfing, watching football or heading off to a festival.

Michael Dugdale
Managing Director
“Hands-on leadership is at the heart of everything I do at Trident,” says Michael. He’s passionate about helping customers embrace net zero and benefit from reduced carbon emissions, healthier profits and better brand value—a passion demonstrated by our multiple award wins for best customer service. A keen marathon runner, golfer, cyclist and Blackpool FC supporter, he also puts the fun into fundraising, and has been known to shave his head and bleach his hair peroxide blonde for a deserving cause.

Noel Ferguson
Head of Net Zero Energy Solutions
Born on Christmas Day (hence the name), Noel was a Royal Navy engineer before entering the energy sector, where he’s spent the last 20 years working on everything from on-site generation and multi-million-pound CAPEX efficiency projects to shaping FTSE net-zero plans. At Trident he’s responsible for the service delivery of the Net Zero team, and recharges his own batteries with golf, cycling and park runs. “Measuring our impact brings the most satisfaction,” he says.

Andrew Curry
Head of Client Services
In his youth Andrew was selected for the England Basketball U17 Squad. We’re glad he’s part of our squad now, where he puts his wealth of energy-industry experience to good use overseeing all our client-facing delivery teams and systems. A regular contributor to the research and development of new products and services for many major energy suppliers, he loves “the freedom and trust to be innovative and creative, while having a meaningful impact in what we deliver to clients”. He still finds time for basketball too, alongside golf, going to the gym, and travelling.

Michael Pinnock
Head of Finance
Michael leads and manages our financial position and governance, creating policies and implementing procedures and systems to optimise business efficiency. His experience spans almost 20 years, predominantly with large infrastructure and construction companies in London before he joined Trident in 2023. In his free time he enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures and cuisines. He’s also a keen snooker player and golfer “although I prefer to play in fair weather,” he laughs.

Steve Sorah
Sales and Marketing Director
Steve started his career in the utilities sector, working across both consultancy and supplier businesses for 20 years before leaving to focus on sales training and consultancy. After successfully supporting numerous global organisations to grow through sales and marketing transformation, he was tempted back to his roots to join Trident in 2024, where he ensures that “all conversations and messages delivered to our customers and prospects are focused on the value to them and the planet”. A supporter of Blackpool FC and Lancashire County Cricket, he also plays tennis and golf.
