Target setting and monitoring

All businesses should have a long-term net-zero target, and most choose to set a near-term target as well. This doesn’t just motivate your people to act, it’s an external proclamation of your desire to be a net-zero business. Our net-zero consultants will help you decide on the year and approach on which to base your target. We’ll take into account your key customers and competitors, and whether to set your targets in line with SBT (see below) or make them sector-specific. Your carbon-reduction plan

A carbon-reduction plan, or CRP, sets out what a business hopes to do to meet carbon-reduction targets. It usually addresses key areas and sets out what the business will achieve, and when, by doing what.

A CRP will typically include targets, timelines, key carbon categories, emissions by scope, base year data, actions, and action timing. It can include as many categories of Scope 3 as your business requires.

Your CRP is a great way of displaying compliance for public procurement tendering. It’s also excellent for demonstrating your commitment and actions to other external audiences – so much so that it’s beginning to be seen as vital for all companies and their ESG reporting.

You can calculate a PPN 06/21-compliant CRP using our Pulse software, and we have the sector, engineering, and sustainability know-how to be able to profile every emissions category for opportunities.

SBTi-verified for extra assurance

The SBTi, or Science-Based Target initiative, is a scheme set up to formalise your pathway to net zero in line with the Paris Agreement goals of keeping global temperature increase to within 1.5°C of pre-industrial levels.

Globally recognised as the leading standard in carbon reduction strategy, SBTi-verified targets are highly respected and signify that your business has gone one step further with its carbon accounting and CRP.
