Success Story
Miniclipper Logistics
Reducing total emissions by 33% and saving 43,599 litres of fuel a year.

The Challenge
A third-generation family business, Miniclipper has been synonymous with haulage and logistics excellence for over 50 years. Part of the Hazchem network, it offers a fully compliant delivery service for customers with complex cargo.
The UK 2050 net-zero target has made carbon reduction a pivotal focus across all businesses, but it’s particularly pressing in the logistics sector. Minclipper’s customers no longer just want assurances about reliability, compliance and excellent service, they want to know that choosing Miniclipper as a supply-chain partner will contribute positively to their own sustainability targets, ensuring transparency and helping to reduce overall emissions across their operations.
Miniclipper partnered with us for carbon accounting and advice to help:
- Meet its renewable energy targets and provide supply-chain reassurance for customers.
- Significantly lower carbon emissions to save costs, work towards the UK government's 2050 net-zero target, and develop a competitive advantage.
The Solution
Miniclipper’s team acted quickly, adding sustainability to their ethos and taking an active role in fully understanding the impact of the business’s emissions and how to reduce them. They started their carbon reporting journey with Trident’s Pulse net-zero software in 2020, with a benchmark figure of 1,385,579 tonnes of CO2e per annum.
Next, we worked with the team to map out Miniclipper’s emissions hotspots, and identified several efficiency measures to help lower its carbon footprint. These included reducing its reliance on fossil fuels by installing 349 solar panels, and replacing over 1,550 inefficient lighting units with new LED models.
The Benefits
Miniclipper delivered tangible reassurance for its corporate clients in its first-ever ESG report in November 2022. Among the game-changing achievements listed were:
- Annual road miles reduced by 60,000.
- Fuel savings of 43,599 litres over two years.
- A 6.88% reduction in emissions in the first year, subsequently increased to 927,772 tonnes of CO2e per annum, 33% lower than the original baseline.
The business is also using the data on its fleet emissions to explore the suitability of nitrogen and electric-powered trucks, helping to identify excellent opportunities for innovation within the sector. In September 2023, in recognition of these successes, the company was voted the winner of the Business Excellence category in the Motor Transport Awards.
All through our journey, from the very beginning to achieving a gold accreditation, the level of service and support has been faultless throughout our ongoing partnership. Over the last year I’ve recommended Trident Utilities to some of my contacts to convey that they would also benefit from speaking to Trident Utilities as a first port of call.”
