Trident recognised as a Great Place to Work®

Trident recognised as a Great Place to Work®
4:36

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what kind of place we want Trident to be. Not just the work we do, but how it feels to be part of the team day to day. So being recognised as a Great Place to Work® is something we’re genuinely proud of, because it’s based on what our people actually think, not what we say about ourselves.

96% of our team said Trident is a great place to work, and we achieved an overall Trust Index score of 88%. Both figures come directly from anonymous feedback, which gives us a really honest view of what’s working and where we need to keep improving.

Alongside the feedback, this recognition also reflects the focus we’ve had as a business over the last few years.

As Michael Dugdale, Managing Director, puts it:

“Our people are at the centre of everything we do. Over the last 25 years, we’ve focused on creating an environment where people feel supported, trusted and able to grow.

This certification is important because it’s based on what our team actually experience day to day. It shows we’re on the right track, but we know there’s always more we can do to keep improving.”

A culture built on trust, not just policy

When people talk about workplace culture, it can sometimes feel like a list of initiatives or benefits. What matters more to us is how people actually feel day to day.

Through the survey, our team told us:

  • 89% feel they can be themselves at work

  • 89% feel like a full member of the team, regardless of role

  • 89% want to stay with Trident long term

They also told us they feel comfortable questioning leadership, understand what’s expected of them, and know that honest mistakes are recognised as part of learning and growth, not something to be punished.

That's the kind of environment we've worked hard to build.

Putting wellbeing into practice

Supporting our team goes beyond what we say. It’s about what we do.

Over the last few years, we’ve invested in a range of wellbeing initiatives that go beyond surface-level wellbeing and actually help people feel supported when it matters:

  • Mental Health First Aiders across the business

  • Team members trained through the Orange Button Community Scheme

  • Six Connections training to help reduce stigma around mental health

The Orange Button initiative is a big part of this. It’s a suicide prevention scheme that trains people to recognise when someone might be struggling and gives them the confidence to start a conversation and signpost support.

In practice, it means that if someone needs help, they can speak to a trained colleague wearing the orange badge and be guided towards the right support.

Alongside this, we continue to create an environment where conversations around wellbeing feel normal, not something people avoid.

Creating a place people want to grow

This year marks 25 years of Trident and throughout that time, one things has stayed consistent. We’ve always believed that if you support people properly, they’ll develop and do their best work.

We’ve always tried to create an environment where people can build a long-term career, not just do a job. That means giving people the opportunity to grow, develop new skills and take on more responsibility over time.

As Alex Mottershead, Head of Procurement & Supplier Services shared:

“I love working here and feel part of the whole team. Everyone has challenges in their life at some point, so it’s great to know there are colleagues who can help and that the company is supportive whatever that issue might be. It’s part of what makes it such a great place to work.”

This is a milestone, not a finish line

Achieving Great Place to Work certification is something we’re incredibly proud of, but it’s not the end goal. It’s a reflection of the culture we’ve built so far and a benchmark for where we go next. We’ll keep listening, keep improving and keep investing in our people, because that’s what ultimately drives everything we do, from the way we work together internally to the way we support our customers externally.

A great place to work. A better partner to work with.

We believe that when you invest in your people, it shows in the way you support your customers.

Whether you’re looking to build your career or partner with a team that’s committed, consistent and easy to work with, we’d love to hear from you.
